LDA’s Anant Nagar Scheme: 334 Plots Allotted Amid High Demand

The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has completed the allotment of 334 residential plots in the first phase of its ambitious Anant Nagar Housing Scheme on Mohaan Road, Lucknow. The lottery for these plots, conducted from June 10 to 13, 2025, at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, saw an overwhelming response with 13,031 applicants vying for the limited plots, averaging nearly 39 applicants per plot. To ensure transparency, the process was live-streamed on LDA’s official YouTube channel, with applicants present during the draw.

Launched on April 4, 2025, by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Anant Nagar scheme spans 785 acres and is designed as a modern township with a budget of approximately ₹6,500 crore. The project features a grid-based layout inspired by Chandigarh and Panchkula, incorporating wide roads ranging from 9 to 60 meters, underground electricity cabling, and a zero-liquid discharge system. The township will cater to around 1.5 lakh residents and includes 2,100 residential plots, 120 commercial plots, and over 10,000 flats under group housing, alongside 5,000 units for economically weaker sections (EWS) and low-income groups (LIG).

The first phase, focusing on Sector-6 (Adarsh Khand), offered plots ranging from 112.5 to 450 square meters at an estimated cost of ₹41,000 per square meter. Within three days of opening registrations on April 4, 9,601 people created logins on the LDA portal, with 3,095 purchasing the ₹1,100 registration booklet and 148 submitting a 5% booking amount. The high demand underscores the city’s need for affordable housing options.

A key feature of the township is a 100-acre Edutech City, designed to accommodate over 10,000 students, faculty, and staff with hostels and residential buildings. Additionally, 130 acres are dedicated to green spaces, with solar-powered systems and EV charging stations to promote sustainability. The project includes a modern solid waste management system and a sewage treatment plant for recycling wastewater.

Following the success of the first phase, LDA opened registrations for the second phase on July 11, 2025, offering 332 additional plots in Adarsh Khand, with applications accepted until August 10. Like the first phase, allotments will be made through a lottery system. Plot sizes in this phase also range from 112.5 to 450 square meters, catering to diverse income groups.

LDA Vice-Chairman Prathamesh Kumar emphasized the project’s alignment with international urban planning standards, noting its potential to set a benchmark for sustainable townships in northern India. However, concerns have been raised about infrastructure, particularly the 7-10 meter-wide access road connecting Anant Nagar to Kisan Path and UPCDA areas. District Magistrate Vishak G has directed LDA to widen it to 24 meters to prevent future traffic issues.

The scheme also addresses land acquisition challenges. Compensation for farmers whose land was acquired has been transferred, but some are yet to submit required documents. LDA has deployed revenue personnel to assist with documentation to ensure timely payments.

With plans for eight sectors, extensive road networks, and modern amenities, Anant Nagar aims to transform Lucknow’s housing landscape, offering affordable and high-quality living spaces for middle-class and lower-income families.
